There is no large showpiece winery here. No world-famous architects.
We like to recycle buildings and timbers and we are great fans of the pattern language articulated
by Christopher Alexander.
However, there are talented staff and we are always glad to explain the many processes
by which grapes are made into wine and wine is enlivened.
Our current expansion is a second winery building to hold up to 200 oak barrels plus at least a hundred cases of
champagne. The concrete block walls are up; the floor is poured; the walls have been filled with concrete; and we are
selecting the trees that will form the support for the truss roof--which must be strong enough to
support an earth roof. A welcome gift for us at any time is a pot of sedum as we will have about 2,000 square feet of roof to make green.
